Frequently asked questions
The honest answers to what people actually ask before buying — is this legal, how it's different from an agency, what you get, and what happens if it's not right for you.
Is this legit?
Is Credit Sorted legal?
Yes. Everything we sell teaches you to use rights you already have under UK law — mainly the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (s.159), UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018, and the credit reference agencies' own dispute processes. We're not a claims management company and we don't contact lenders or bureaus on your behalf — you send the letters yourself, using rights that already belong to you for free.
Is this a scam?
No. Credit Sorted is a sole trader based in Southampton, UK, run by one person — see About and the Terms & Conditions. Every paid product is backed by a 30-day, no-questions-asked money-back guarantee, and every purchase is processed securely through Payhip, so we never see or store your card details.
How is this different from a credit repair agency or claims management company?
Agencies typically charge £50–£200 a month to send dispute letters on your behalf — letters based on the same public UK consumer rights this site teaches you to use yourself. We sell the information and the templates once, for a one-off price, and you send the letters. No subscription, no ongoing fee, no third party contacting bureaus in your name.
Is this regulated financial advice?
No. Credit Sorted provides educational information and do-it-yourself tools only. Nothing we sell is regulated financial, debt or legal advice under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA). If you need regulated advice, an FCA-authorised adviser is the right route, not us.
There's free advice online — why pay for this?
You're right that free information exists — MoneySavingExpert forums, Reddit, the credit reference agencies' own help pages, ICO guidance. The gap isn't information, it's time: working out what actually applies to you, in the right order, without missing a 28-day deadline, usually means piecing together dozens of scattered sources yourself. This product does that legwork for you — UK-specific, structured, in the right order. If you'd rather do the research yourself, that's genuinely fine — StepChange and Citizens Advice are free and excellent.
Will it actually work?
Will this actually work for me?
It depends on what's actually on your file. Our products are built around genuine admin errors and procedural mistakes — wrong addresses, outdated defaults, unresolved "unsatisfied" markers, electoral roll gaps — which are common and fixable. If your file reflects debt you do owe, no product (from us or anyone else) can legally or ethically make that disappear, and we say so plainly on every product page. Individual results vary and are never guaranteed.
What if I have a genuine default or debt, not just an error?
Our tools are educational and aimed at admin errors and DIY dispute processes, not debt management. If you're dealing with debt you can't manage, get free, impartial help from StepChange or Citizens Advice — both are independent of us and cost nothing.
Which product should I start with?
Start with the free planner — it runs in your browser and covers the first three weeks of the 90-day plan for nothing. If it's working for you, the £47 Console unlocks all 13 weeks, tracks all three bureaus and works out your dispute deadlines. The £67 Course is for people who want to understand how UK credit actually works before they act.
What you get, and what if it's not right
What do I actually receive when I buy?
Everything is delivered instantly and digitally through Payhip after payment — no physical goods are ever shipped. The guides and letter templates arrive as PDFs. The Console arrives as a ZIP file containing a single .html file you open in any desktop or laptop browser. The Course grants instant, lifetime streaming access through Payhip.
Does the Console work on my phone?
It will open on a phone or tablet browser, but it's built for desktop and laptop screens, where you've got room to work through a 90-day plan and read your files properly. Treat it as a browser tool for your computer, not a phone app.
What's your refund policy?
Every paid product comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If it isn't right for you, email [email protected] within 30 days of your purchase and we'll refund you in full, no questions asked.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We never ask for or store credit report data, bank details or card numbers — Payhip and Stripe handle payment securely and we never see your card. We collect only your email (and name, if you give it) to send what you've bought and, if you opt in, related emails you can unsubscribe from any time. See our full Privacy Policy for detail.
Still have a question? Email [email protected] and we'll answer directly — see also our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
